GreatSchools Mobile App Now Available
GreatSchools’ new mobile app delivers the latest school information, ratings, and reviews for 125,000 public and private K-12 schools in the U.S.
San Francisco, CA — July 27, 2011 — Education technology innovator GreatSchools announces the launch of a free mobile app in the iTunes App Store. The GreatSchools Finder allows parents, realtors, and educators to find information, ratings, and reviews on 125,000 K-12 public and private schools in the U.S. Drawing from the nation’s most trusted source of school performance information, the app gives users instantaneous access to a wealth of data whenever and wherever they need it. “With more Americans using mobile apps to access vital information, it was a natural progression for us,” explains Bill Jackson, CEO and President of GreatSchools, a national non-profit that reaches one-in-three American families with school age children every year. “Whether you’re a parent, realtor, or teacher, the GreatSchools Finder serves up the most advanced and up-to-date information on schools today.”
Available on the iPhone, iPad, or iTouch, the mobile tool allows users to save schools to their personalized list and share a particular school with a colleague or friend by texting or through email. Developed by WillowTree Apps, this one-of-a-kind mobile app also includes the GreatSchools’ quality rating and aggregates community reviews from parents, teachers, and students.
The app is particularly relevant to residential real estate agents. Century21 states that knowing where the good schools are located is one of the top three things realtors should know when selling a home. CNN Money advises that buying in a district with good schools applies to all home buyers because strong school districts boost property values. With 50% of U.S. families with children in grades K-12 moving every five years, realtors need school information handy at a moment’s notice.
“The GreatSchools Finder is an example of how powerful mobile applications can be when combining valuable, location-based information with a highly intuitive user interface," says Tobias Dengel, CEO of WillowTree Apps. "Users will be able to look up critical school information wherever they are, such as on a house-hunting tour.”
GreatSchools will be unveiling the mobile app at the Inman SF Real Estate Connect today at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco. Media are invited to a breakfast and demo at 9:30am.
